Mobility Aids For Pain Management

Here at Multicare we have modern mobility aids for all types of pain. One of our most effective products is the TENS machine.

What is TENS?
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation is a pocket sized, battery powered device that sends mild, safe electrical that help to ease the pain. The device is connected using a lead wire and a self adhesive conductive electrode.
TENS use a high-frequency stimulation which sends impulses to the nervous system, blocking the pain. A low frequency stimulation can alleviate pain by stimulating the muscles to produce their own morphine-like substances, endorphins.
It is recommended that you have a pain assessment before using a TENS machine. It will help identify exactly where the pain is and will identify any numb parts of the skin where the TENS machine will not work as the machine requires an intact nerve pathway to work.
Four electrode machines are available for if the pain is more widespread.
During use the TENS machine should not be uncomfortable; if your muscles begin to twitch then the signals are too strong or too fast. But if you can’t feel any tingling at all it means the signal is too slow or too weak.
